Strengthening Monitoring & Evaluation Capability of the IMED

Capacity building is crucial to meet the mission of the division in supporting the attainment of socio- economic development of the country through effective implementation monitoring, qualitative evaluation of development projects and ensuring robust public procurement. The Government of Bangladesh designed and supported a program to strengthen the capability of the personnel of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), Ministry of Planning.

In fiscal year 2017-18, A team of 10 members headed by deputy chief were attended 28 days training program in Philippines from 07th January-03rd February, 2018 under the project “Strengthening Monitoring & Evaluation Capability of the IMED (SMECI) (1st Revised)”.  MTI Ltd. contracted by the IMED to manage the whole training program on monitoring and evaluation in the Philippines.

The training program aims were to equip the participants with the necessary competencies in setting up, managing, and operationalizing a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system for development projects. The participants equipped with key M&E tools and techniques and with the required process in performing M&E activities. During training program participants were attended class session on Managing Development Projects – Practices and Issues, Planning Development Projects, Overview of the Project Monitoring & Evaluation, Establishing a Project M&E System at the Project Startup Phase Progress Monitoring, Project Evaluation and visited different offices in Manila such as  National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
