CPTU Explores Turkey's e-GP System in High-Level Study Tour

Since 2011, Bangladesh has made significant strides in modernizing its public procurement landscape through robust ICT infrastructure. A central pillar of this transformation is the national e-Government Procurement (e-GP) portal, owned and operated by the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) under the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Ministry of Planning.

To further enhance this system by learning from global leaders, CPTU designed a specialized study tour on e-GP systems in Turkey during the 2016-17 fiscal year. Management and Training International (MTI) Ltd. was proud to manage this important initiative. From January 15 to 21, 2018, a 10-member delegation, led by the then IMED Secretary, Mr. Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, traveled to Turkey for an immersive learning experience.

The program was graciously hosted by the Public Procurement Authority of the Republic of Turkey. The core of the study tour involved in-depth discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions held at the Electronic Procurement Research & Development Centre in Ankara. The Bangladeshi delegates engaged directly with their Turkish counterparts, gaining firsthand insights into the architecture, operation, and policy framework of Turkey's highly successful Electronic Public Procurement System.

The program's smooth execution and valuable content were well-received by the participants, reflecting MTI's commitment to delivering high-quality, impactful international programs.

Overall arrangement and management was very good. The preparatory booklet was informative. The representative from MTI was very supportive and helpful.

This study tour provided a critical platform for strategic learning and international collaboration, contributing valuable knowledge that will help shape the future of transparent and efficient public procurement in Bangladesh.
