DGFP Strengthens Communication Strategies with SBCC Training in Philippines, Malaysia & Vietnam

To drive meaningful and lasting change in public health, effective communication is paramount. Recognizing this, the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) invested in enhancing the skills of its officials in Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC)—a systematic approach to promoting positive health outcomes. To learn from regional leaders, DGFP initiated a series of short courses across Asia, which Management and Training International (MTI) Ltd. was proud to facilitate.

A delegation traveled to the Philippines for a specialized SBCC short course from July 22-29, 2018. This program focused on community-centric communication strategies and the use of modern media to effectively disseminate health messages and encourage positive behavioral shifts.

Similarly, another group of officials attended an intensive SBCC training in Malaysia from May 17-24, 2018. This course provided insights into Malaysia's successful national health campaigns and the frameworks used to design, implement, and evaluate large-scale communication initiatives.

The series of trainings also included a course in Vietnam from May 5-12, 2018, where participants learned about evidence-based communication techniques tailored to diverse demographic groups, a crucial skill for Bangladesh's varied population.

Through these strategically designed programs, expertly managed by MTI Ltd., DGFP officials are now better equipped with advanced SBCC methodologies. This enhanced capacity will directly contribute to more effective health communication campaigns, fostering healthier behaviors and improving family planning outcomes across Bangladesh.
