DGHS Strengthens Disease Control Programs with Specialized Training in Indonesia & Philippines

Effectively combating infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB), and Leprosy requires robust programmatic management and continuous skill enhancement. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) is at the forefront of this battle in Bangladesh, with dedicated units like the AIDS and STD Program (ASP) and the TB and Leprosy Control (TB-LC) Program. To bolster their efforts, officials from these critical units participated in targeted international training, expertly managed by MTI Ltd.

The AIDS and STD Program (ASP) focused on strengthening its oversight capabilities. A delegation attended a "Training on Monitoring & Evaluation of Health Program (HIV/AIDS)" in Indonesia from August 12-17, 2018. This course equipped officials with advanced M&E frameworks to better track program performance, measure impact, and ensure accountability in the national response to HIV/AIDS.

Simultaneously, the TB and Leprosy Control (TB-LC) Program undertook two vital training initiatives. One team traveled to the Philippines for a "Training on Result Based Monitoring & Evaluation" from July 21-25, 2018. This specialized training focused on linking M&E directly to tangible health outcomes, a crucial approach for accelerating progress against TB and Leprosy.

Another group from the TB-LC Program attended a "Workshop on Clinical & Programmatic Management of DR-TB" in Indonesia from July 21-25, 2018. This hands-on workshop addressed the growing challenge of Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis, providing clinicians and program managers with the latest strategies for diagnosis, treatment, and containment.

By facilitating these highly focused training sessions, MTI Ltd. has helped arm DGHS's specialized units with the specific skills needed to tackle some of the nation's most pressing public health challenges. This investment in targeted capacity building is essential for improving disease control and safeguarding the health of the Bangladeshi population.
