HED Explores Advanced Hospital Infrastructure Management in UK & Japan

The Health Engineering Department (HED), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is responsible for the planning, design, and maintenance of healthcare facilities across Bangladesh. To enhance its technical capabilities and align with global standards, HED undertook a series of specialized international training programs in 2018. Management and Training International (MTI) Ltd. was honored to facilitate these crucial capacity-building initiatives in the United Kingdom and Japan.

In the United Kingdom, two high-level training programs were conducted. From July 5th to 11th, officials participated in a program on "Hospital Management, Structural and Architectural Design," gaining exposure to state-of-the-art concepts in healthcare facility planning and patient-centric design. Another delegation attended a training on "Procurement & Supply Chain Management" from June 29th to July 5th, focusing on efficient and transparent procurement processes vital for public health projects.

Earlier in the year, a specialized "Training on Hospital Waste Management" was held in Japan from April 1st to 9th. This program addressed the critical need for safe, environmentally friendly, and efficient disposal of medical waste. Participants studied Japan's advanced technologies and systematic approaches, gaining practical knowledge to implement improved waste management protocols in Bangladesh's healthcare system.

Through these targeted international programs, MTI Ltd. successfully provided HED officials with invaluable insights and technical expertise. This knowledge transfer is instrumental in building modern, safe, and efficient healthcare infrastructure, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for the citizens of Bangladesh.
