ICT Division Explores BPO & Outsourcing Sectors in Italy, Philippines, and India
As part of the far-reaching ‘Learning and Earning’ development project, the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) embarked on a series of targeted international study tours to learn from global leaders in the BPO and outsourcing industries. Management and Training International (MTI) Ltd. was privileged to manage these initiatives, which provided a multi-faceted understanding of different successful models across Europe and Asia.
In Europe, a seven-member delegation, headed by the Project Director of the 'Learning and Earning' project, attended a study tour on the BPO Industry in Italy from October 5-13, 2017. Organized in collaboration with the Rome Business School, this program provided a deep dive into the strategic, business-centric aspects of the European BPO market.
To understand one of the world's most dominant outsourcing hubs, a team of four officials traveled to the Philippines from September 26 to October 1, 2018. Managed in partnership with Inno-Change International Consultants, this study tour on ‘Information and Communication Technology and Outsourcing’ offered practical insights into the operational excellence and talent development that drives the Philippines' success.
Complementing these visits, another study tour focused on the foundational elements of a thriving digital economy. From February 24 to March 3, 2017, six officials visited India to study ‘Connectivity, Infrastructure and Internet Accessibility Act and Adapting Policies for Boosting BPO Industry.’ This program provided critical knowledge on the policy and infrastructure frameworks necessary to support a large-scale BPO ecosystem.
By exploring these diverse contexts—from European business strategy to ASEAN operational models and Indian policy frameworks—the ICT Division gained a holistic understanding to further accelerate the growth of Bangladesh's own digital and outsourcing industries.
