ICTD Engages in Global Tech Conference and Freelancing Study Tour

In 2017, the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) pursued a dynamic, two-pronged approach to international capacity building, focusing on both high-level academic trends and practical employment ecosystems. Management and Training International (MTI) Ltd. successfully managed these distinct but complementary programs in South Korea and the Philippines.

First, from March 2-7, 2017, MTI, in collaboration with Academic Fora, arranged for three officials to attend the ‘21st International Conference on Engineering & Technology, Computer, Basic and Applied Sciences Research & Practice’ in South Korea. This prestigious event provided a crucial platform for the delegates to engage with cutting-edge research and global technological advancements, ensuring that Bangladesh's ICT policy remains informed by the latest innovations.

Complementing this academic focus, a study tour on the ‘Scope of Employment in Outsourcing/Freelancing’ was organized in the Philippines from May 24-29, 2017. In partnership with the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC), MTI facilitated this program for seven trainees. The tour provided an in-depth look at one of the world's most successful freelancing and BPO hubs.

Participants engaged in discussions and sessions focused on understanding the policy, training, and infrastructure that support a thriving freelance economy, gathering actionable insights to foster similar growth in Bangladesh.

Together, these initiatives—one exploring the future of technology and the other studying its immediate economic impact—demonstrate a comprehensive strategy to build a robust and globally competitive digital ecosystem in Bangladesh.
