High-Level Study Tour on M&E of Construction Projects in Australia & New Zealand

To benchmark Bangladesh's project oversight mechanisms against global best practices, Management and Training International (MTI) Ltd. successfully organized and managed a specialized study tour on ‘Monitoring & Evaluation Procedures of Construction type of Projects.’ This high-level program was designed for the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Ministry of Planning.

A distinguished five-member delegation, headed by Mr. Md. Mofizul Islam, the esteemed Secretary of IMED, participated in this intensive program held from May 26 to June 1, 2017. The tour spanned two countries, Australia and New Zealand, providing a comprehensive perspective on advanced M&E frameworks for large-scale infrastructure projects.

The core academic component was conducted by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the prestigious University of Auckland, New Zealand. During these sessions, the delegation engaged with leading academics and industry experts to explore cutting-edge techniques in construction project management, quality assurance, and performance evaluation. The discussions focused on practical strategies to enhance transparency and efficiency in public works.

In addition to the academic program in New Zealand, the team also visited the Department of Planning & Environment in Australia. This visit provided crucial insights into the regulatory and policy aspects of infrastructure development, offering a government-to-government perspective on planning, execution, and oversight.

MTI Ltd.'s meticulous management of this multi-country study tour ensured a highly productive and insightful experience for the IMED leadership. This initiative directly supports the national goal of strengthening the monitoring and evaluation of public infrastructure projects, ensuring greater value and accountability in Bangladesh's development journey.
