Enhancing Food Safety: MTI Facilitates Livestock Quality Control Training in Japan

Ensuring the safety and quality of animal-derived food products and livestock feed is paramount for public health and a robust agricultural economy. To support this crucial goal, the Department of Livestock Services organized an overseas study tour under the ‘Establishment of Quality Control Laboratory for Livestock Inputs and its Food Products’ (EQCLIFP) project. MTI Ltd. was proud to manage this high-level program for a 12-member official delegation in Japan, a global leader in food safety and laboratory standards.

The training was meticulously designed to provide participants with contemporary knowledge and the latest advances in livestock services. Practical Insights from World-Class Research Institutes

To bridge theory with practice, the delegation embarked on a series of visits to leading Japanese agricultural and food inspection centers. A key visit was to the Food and Agricultural Materials Inspection Centre (FAMIC), where participants observed sophisticated laboratory equipment in action, including mass spectrometry and chromatography tools used for analyzing livestock feed and food products. Further visits to the Tsukuba Agriculture Research Hall and the Institute of Livestock and Grassland Science (NARO) provided hands-on exposure to cutting-edge research, manure handling techniques, and stringent laboratory safety protocols.

This comprehensive program, combining academic learning with practical observation, has equipped the Department of Livestock Services officials with the knowledge to produce reliable and precise data, enhance laboratory quality control, and implement international standards in Bangladesh.
