High-Level Food Safety & Supply Chain Study in Oceania and Singapore

In 2017, the Ministry of Food undertook a series of strategic international programs to gather world-class knowledge in food safety and supply chain management, particularly in support of the ‘Construction of 1.05 Lakh M.T. Capacity New Food Godowns’ project. Management and Training International (MTI) Ltd. successfully managed and coordinated two key initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.

The first was a high-level ‘Exposure Visit for Experience-Sharing and Policy Interaction on Food Safety, Quality and Supply Chain Management.’ From April 8-17, 2017, a nine-member delegation, led by the then Secretary-in-Charge of the Ministry of Food, Md. Kaikobad Hossain, traveled to New Zealand and Australia.

The program was conducted by leading institutions in the field: AssureQuality Limited in Auckland, New Zealand, and the University of Newcastle in Australia. This provided the delegation with a dual perspective, combining industry-leading quality assurance practices with cutting-edge academic research. The tour included visits to educational and recreational sites, offering a comprehensive cultural and professional experience.

Following this, MTI organized a focused training program in Singapore from May 20-24, 2017. Nine officials attended the ‘Food Safety, Security, Handling and Management Course.’ This intensive course provided practical skills and insights into Singapore's highly efficient and technologically advanced food management ecosystem.

Together, these back-to-back programs provided a powerful learning continuum, equipping Ministry of Food officials with best practices from some of the world's most advanced nations in food security and management, directly contributing to the enhancement of Bangladesh's national food infrastructure.
