Training on Food Safety, Security & Management in Germany

As part of its ongoing capacity-building initiatives for the Ministry of Food, Management and Training International (MTI) Ltd. organized a specialized training program in Germany, a global leader in food safety and consumer protection. This program, titled ‘Food Safety, Security, Handling and Management Course,’ was held from August 23-29, 2018.

A high-level team of 11 officials, led by a Joint Secretary, attended the training, which was conducted in collaboration with the esteemed BVL-Federal Office of Consumer Protection & Food Safety in Berlin. The program was designed to provide a deep understanding of the robust German and European food safety frameworks.

The curriculum featured sessions with top-level experts. Mr. Niklas Schulze Icking, Deputy Head of Division for International Food Safety Policy, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the legal and institutional backgrounds of food safety in Germany and the wider European Union. Furthermore, Dr. Evelyn Breitweg-Lehmann from the BVL provided an in-depth look into the practical aspects of the German food control system and other related critical issues.

The program also included a poignant visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site, offering a moment of historical reflection for the delegation. MTI Ltd.'s successful organization and coordination of this program ensured a fruitful exchange of knowledge, equipping the Bangladeshi officials with valuable insights to enhance the nation's own food safety standards and consumer protection mechanisms.
