Honoring History: MTI Facilitates MoLWA's Global Study of War Memorials in Russia and Australia

A nation's monuments are the physical embodiment of its history, sacrifice, and identity. For Bangladesh, the preservation of the legacy of the 1971 Liberation War is a task of utmost national importance. MTI Ltd. is profoundly honored to support the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs (MoLWA) by organizing international exposure visits to learn from global leaders in war memorial design, preservation, and curation.

Studying Monumental Architecture in Russia

In direct support of the landmark ‘Construction of Shadhinata-Stambha at Suhrawardi Udyan (3rd Phase)’ project, MTI Ltd. managed a critical exposure visit to Russia for an eight-member official delegation. The visit focused on studying large-scale commemorative architecture. A key site was Moscow's Victory Park on Poklonnaya Gora, a vast complex dedicated to World War II. By observing its grand monuments, museums, and layout, the delegation gained invaluable inspiration and technical insights for the design and construction of Bangladesh's own iconic Independence Monument.

Learning from Curatorial Excellence in Australia

Beyond constructing monuments, preserving the stories within them is equally vital. MTI Ltd. also facilitated a visit to the world-renowned Australian War Memorial in Canberra. This program, part of the ‘Preservation & Reconstruction of Muktijuddho Memorials’ project, allowed MoLWA officials to study a global benchmark in museum curation, artifact preservation, and creating an immersive visitor experience. The open discussions held inside the memorial provided a direct understanding of the operational and curatorial strategies that make it so effective.

The new generation should learn about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for the sake of our independence. Special thanks to the Korean War Memorial Authority of Republic of Korea. The visit program and MTI’s coordination was fruitful.
