Preserving a Nation's Legacy: MTI Facilitates MoLWA Study Tours to South Korea and Australia

Honoring the sacrifices of freedom fighters and preserving the history of the Liberation War for future generations is a sacred national duty. The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs (MoLWA) is entrusted with this vital mission. MTI Ltd. is deeply honored to have supported this work by managing two high-level international study tours designed to gather global best practices in the construction, preservation, and management of war memorials and historical sites.

Learning from South Korea’s Memorialization and Peace Efforts

Under the project ‘Construction & Preservation of Historical Sites and Memorial Museums,’ MTI Ltd. organized a visit for a distinguished 12-member delegation to South Korea. Led by the Honourable Minister, A. K. M Mozammel Huq MP, the team studied South Korea’s world-class approach to memorializing its own history of conflict while promoting a message of peace and remembrance. The visit provided invaluable insights into architectural design, archival techniques, and the creation of immersive museum experiences.

The delegation paid respects at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea, a profound example of international commemoration.

Studying Best Practices at the Australian War Memorial

In a separate initiative organized by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), MTI Ltd. collaborated with the prestigious Australian War Memorial to facilitate an exposure visit for MoLWA officials. A 7-member team, led by then-Secretary Mr. Aparup Chowdhury, traveled to Australia for the ‘Preservation & Reconstruction of Muktijuddho Memorials’ project. The visit focused on learning from one of the world's leading institutions for war history and commemoration.

Visit to Wollongong Coastal City in Australia — The tour included a visit to Wollongong Coastal City to understand how memorials are integrated into public and natural spaces.

The core of the program was an in-depth tour of the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. The delegation studied best practices in artifact preservation, digital archiving, exhibition design, and the management of a national memorial site. These learnings are directly applicable to the ongoing efforts to preserve Bangladesh's own historical sites and museums dedicated to the Liberation War.
