Training on Capacity Building and Skill Development in Sri Lanka

The comprehensive international training initiative for ‘The Capacity and Skill Development of National Academy of Social Services’ project continued with its third batch of officials traveling to Sri Lanka. Management and Training International (MTI) Ltd. was proud to manage this program, which focused on learning from Sri Lanka's highly regarded social empowerment models.

From August 9-18, 2018, a large delegation of eighteen participants attended the ‘Training on Capacity Building and Skill Development.’ The program was strategically hosted by the Department of Samurdhi Development under the Ministry of Social Empowerment in Colombo. This provided the Bangladeshi officials with direct access to the architects and implementers of the "Samurdhi" program, one of South Asia's most extensive poverty alleviation and social empowerment initiatives.

The training centered on intensive classroom discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions. Participants delved into the policies, strategies, and operational mechanics of Sri Lanka's 'Integrated Life Cycle Based Social Security Activities.' This direct government-to-government interaction fostered a rich learning environment, allowing for a deep and practical understanding of how to design and execute effective, large-scale social welfare programs.

This successful study tour equipped the officials with valuable, actionable insights. The knowledge gained from Sri Lanka's experience is directly applicable to enhancing the curriculum of the National Academy of Social Services and improving the delivery of social services to the citizens of Bangladesh.
