Empowering Bangladesh's Youth: MTI Facilitates Study Tour on Employment Creation in Vietnam & Philippines

Tackling youth unemployment is a cornerstone of national development. The Department of Youth Development, under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, is actively addressing this through the project ‘Creation of employment & self-employment opportunities for unemployed youths of 07 Districts of north Bengal (2nd Phase)’. To gather practical, real-world strategies for this initiative, MTI Ltd. successfully managed and coordinated a vital overseas exposure visit for a 10-member official delegation.

Learning from Vietnam's Entrepreneurial Spirit

The first leg of the tour took place in Vietnam, a nation renowned for its rapid economic growth and dynamic SME sector. The program was conducted by the prestigious Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam (AIT-VN). Here, the delegation studied innovative models for vocational training, entrepreneurship development, and creating supportive ecosystems for young business owners. The insights gained from AIT-VN provided a valuable framework for designing effective and modern training programs for the youth of North Bengal.

The program also included cultural exposure, such as a visit to the scenic Halong Bay, Vietnam.

Studying Grassroots Empowerment in the Philippines

The visit continued to the Philippines, where the focus shifted to community-based and grassroots approaches to self-employment. The program was hosted by the Development Centre for Asia Africa Pacific (DCAAP) in Manila. The delegation explored successful case studies of micro-enterprise development, cooperative management, and public-private partnerships aimed at creating sustainable livelihoods. Learning from DCAAP's experience offered practical strategies for empowering unemployed youth at the local level.
