NEC-ECNEC Wing Explores Digital Documentation in Australia & New Zealand
To enhance the quality of project preparation, processing, and evaluation, the Planning Division of the Ministry of Planning is prioritizing the adoption of modern digital systems. This initiative is a core component of the ‘Capacity Enhancement of NEC-ECNEC & Coordination Wing by Introducing Digital Data Base and Archive System’ project, aimed at improving efficiency and transparency in managing national development projects.
As part of this crucial project, Management and Training International (MTI) Ltd. successfully managed and coordinated a high-level study tour on ‘Digital Documentation and Archive Systems.’ From May 17-27, 2017, a six-member delegation, led by the distinguished Secretary of the Planning Division, Mr. Ziaul Islam, traveled to New Zealand and Australia to learn from global leaders in information management.
The program began in Wellington, New Zealand, where the team engaged in intensive sessions with 'Information Leadership,' a leading consultancy in digital transformation and information governance. These discussions provided deep insights into best practices for designing and applying digital systems for project proposal processing, monitoring, and reporting.
The delegation then traveled to Canberra, Australia, for a strategic visit to the National Archives of Australia. This segment of the tour focused on large-scale, government-level digital archiving solutions, offering a practical look at how to manage, preserve, and provide access to vital national records in a digital-first environment.
The knowledge gained from this study tour is instrumental in improving individual skills, enhancing transparency, and achieving sustainable development goals through better project planning and oversight. The experience has equipped the NEC-ECNEC wing with the expertise needed to implement a state-of-the-art digital database and archive system, marking a significant step forward in modernizing Bangladesh's public administration.
