Bangladesh Delegation Explores Thailand’s Urban Health Innovations in Collaborative Training Program
A fourteen-member delegation from Bangladesh's Urban Primary Health Care Services Delivery Project-II (UPHCSDP-II) has successfully completed a five-day training course in Thailand, focused on fostering city-to-city partnerships to improve urban health services. Organized by Siam Health Foundation (SHF) in association with MTI Ltd., the program from May 7-11, 2025, provided a crucial platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building.
As Bangladesh grapples with the health challenges of rapid urbanization, this initiative aimed to equip officials with proven strategies from Thailand's advanced healthcare system. The program featured a blend of high-level academic sessions and practical field visits, allowing participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of Thailand's approach to Universal Health Coverage (UHC), municipal health management, and community engagement.

The delegation engaged in insightful discussions at Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health and attended lectures by distinguished experts, including a presentation on the national health system by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phitaya Charupoonphol of Mahidol University. A key highlight was the field visit to Public Health Center 67 in Thaweewatthana, which offered a firsthand look at grassroots-level service delivery and community health initiatives.
