Empowering Rural Women Through Health & Entrepreneurship: MTI Leads Nationwide Sanitary Napkin Training
Addressing menstrual health and creating economic opportunities for women are two of the most powerful drivers of social progress. MTI Ltd. is honored to partner with the Department of Women Affairs to implement a groundbreaking national project: 'Sanitary Napkin Production and Marketing Training for Rural Women Entrepreneurs' across all 64 districts of Bangladesh.
A Dual-Impact Mission: Health and Livelihood
In many rural areas, adolescent girls and low-income women are often unable to afford sanitary napkins, leading to significant health risks and absenteeism from school or work. This project tackles this challenge head-on by empowering local women entrepreneurs to produce high-quality, sterile, and eco-friendly sanitary napkins at a low cost. This initiative not only increases access to essential hygiene products but also creates sustainable employment and economic independence for rural women.
Core Objectives of the Project:
- Empower Women Entrepreneurs: To train rural women in the complete process of sanitary napkin production and marketing.
- Promote Women's Health: To improve menstrual hygiene and health outcomes for adolescent girls and low-income mothers.
- Create Local Employment: To generate jobs in both production and marketing for unemployed rural youth.
- Ensure Accessibility: To make high-quality, affordable sanitary napkins readily available in local schools, colleges, clinics, and hospitals.
Comprehensive Training for Sustainable Success
MTI Ltd.'s role is to manage and execute this comprehensive training program nationwide. The curriculum is designed to be highly practical, covering:
- Production Process: Detailed instruction on the steps involved in making sanitary napkins, including material selection (purified cotton, netting, bandage cloth), quality control, and packaging.
- Marketing and Sales Strategy: Training on how to market the products effectively within the community, build a customer base, and establish distribution channels to local institutions.
- Business Management: Essential skills for running a small enterprise, from financial management to customer relations.
This initiative represents a powerful model for sustainable development, where a single intervention addresses public health, women's empowerment, and economic growth simultaneously. By equipping these new entrepreneurs with the right skills and support, MTI and the Department of Women Affairs are helping to build healthier and more prosperous communities from the ground up.
