PMP Day 5: a2i Officials Close the Programme with a Day of Breaking Down the Work
The fifth and final day of the Professional Certification Program on Project Management Professional (PMP) for the Aspire to Innovate (a2i) Programme was held on 27 June 2026 at a2i, ICT Tower, Agargaon. The format changed for the last day: instead of classroom rows, the cohort sat at boardroom tables in working groups, and the day was built around breaking down project work — from the work breakdown structure to an activity list that a schedule can be built on.
About the engagement: Under the assignment “Hiring a Consulting Firm for Project Implementation Support at a2i”, MTI Ltd. organises the full PMP capacity-building track for the Aspire to Innovate (a2i) Programme of the Information and Communication Technology Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The programme follows the PMI® Authorized PMP® Exam Prep curriculum (Version 3.0) and its Exam Content Outline references.
From Work Packages to Activities
The core slide of the day, Breaking Down Project Activities, traced the decomposition chain the PMP exam expects a candidate to know cold: the project is broken into control accounts, then planning packages and work packages, and each work package is then broken into activities. The rules on the slide were specific — enter activities into the activity list using a verb statement, use the activity list to develop the project schedule, and include a duration for every activity. That last step is where scope planning becomes schedule planning, and where most real schedules go wrong.
A Day of Group Practice
Most of the day was spent applying that chain. Working in table groups on their laptops, participants decomposed project scopes into work packages and activities, while the trainer moved from table to table checking the breakdowns and challenging the verb statements. The course’s online classroom, A2i PMP Course 2026, was on screen for the materials and exercises. For a cohort that manages Nothi, myGov, the National Portal and a2i’s other national services, the exercise turned an exam topic into the everyday skill of turning a project plan into a timetable people can be held to.
